I recall, maybe wrongly, that VW had a more convincing choral ensemble sound but, all told, I think they might have improved it further before making it available for OSX.
And the "L"s still seem to be too close to "w"s and this seems much better handled in VS. It's a nice program judging by the demos but the samples are those I remember from last time. Le fait qu'il n'y ait eu aucune évolution (y compris après le passage à Mac OS X) m'a obligé à l'abandonner au profit de VS, et je ne le regrette pas, au vu de la qualité de ce dernier.

Ceci dit, il était loin d'avoir toutes les fonctions d'Harmony, plus compliqué à utiliser (avec des voix en anglais uniquement) tout en étant beaucoup plus cher. Je crois me souvenir qu'il était apparu en 1998, soit avant Virtual Singer, mais je n'en suis pas sûr. Vocal Writer est le premier logiciel de synthèse vocale que j'ai utilisé sur Mac, avant Harmony, et j'en trouvais le rendu des voix plus sympathique. « Last Edit: Jul 19 th, 2005, 1:39pm by Edward Gold » This OSX version of VW is, of course very recent and I am glad to see it. The original Vocal Writer does, in fact, go back a way but I suppose VS does as well.

If I do try it, I'll post further information. I've downloaded it (free to try for 30 days but a $39 shareware fee way down from the earlier application which may have been $90 or so.) but haven't tried it out yet, so this is only information and not a recommendation. I've noticed now that it only sings English lyrics which is rather too restrictive for me. They didn't bring the software up to date till now.
I was taken by surprise when I saw this today in ! I tried it out some years ago in OS 8 or 9 and at that time I thought it produced some nice atmospheric effects with problems mostly having to do with pronunciation (which seemed to be only American mid-western or something like it.) and gender.
